Top 10 tips for raising money for the cause you care about.

Raising money needn’t be as hard as you imagine!
  1. Be the first! By donating to your own supporter page you are showing your commitment to your fundraising and setting the benchmark for other donations.
  2. Remember to include pictures of yourself, people want to see who they are donating to.
  3. Update your supporter page! Keep your donors and potential donors updated with your progress, how is the fundraising going? What obstacles have you come across, what are you really enjoying etc.
  4. Tell your story! Let supporters know WHY you are doing what you are doing, they want to know – share your passion.
  5. If you hit your target, or you are less than £100 away from reaching it – increase it! If people think you are close to meeting your target they may not donate the £200 they were going to if you are only £75 off your goal.
  6. Let people know how much to donate – e.g £10 will provide 5 blankets, £100 will provide a years heating. You want them to know that any amount they are able to give will make a difference.
  7. Thank your donors! Let them know their donation has been noticed and appreciated.
  8. Contact your charity. They will love to hear from you, let them know what you are doing for them and ask if they have any materials to help you raise as much money for them as possible!
  9. Share your fundraising page on Facebook and Twitter and other social media platforms – spread the word! If someone isn’t able to donate, ask them to do the same, every share helps.
  10.  Finally – ask again! People often need reminding, if you asked them once and they haven’t donated – ask again, they may have just forgotten and won’t begrudge a friendly reminder. And don’t be afraid to ask after you’ve completed your event, almost 20% of donations come in after the challenge is over!

Don’t forget to set up your everydayhero supporter page before the event to ensure your donors have a safe, simple way to donate – click here to get started!

Cash donations can be lodged via the “Give Now” button on your page. Simply choose the preferred payment method and a pledge form will be emailed to you with further instructions on how to finalise the payment.

This will ensure that all your fundraising efforts are recognised on your page!

  2. Hi, I have tried downloading the Offline Pledge Form and it is telling me it cannot open the file as it is corrupt… please help as I would like to use this…

    • Hi Kim,

The reason for this message will be due to your own computer’s anti virus. I would suggest you override this by confirming the file is not corrupt to enable you to open the file.

    • Hi Andrea,

There is no automated thank you, they receive their donation receipt. You can however thank them directly on your Supporter Page and when this occurs an email is sent to them at this point.

    • Hi Alex,

      Thanks for your comment.

You do not need to contact your charity if you are going to set up a fundraiser for them but I would recommend that you do as they may have some great advice and information on how to help you fundraise for their cause.

    • Thanks for your comment, unfortunately I do not fully understand what it is you are asking – our site is for receiving donations not selling item. Could you please rephrase your question?

    • HI Kristy,

Thanks for your comment. On our site we currently haven’t got this feature but I will certainly pass on your feedback to our product team as personalised backgrounds is a great idea!

  7. When I try to share a post with a photo attached to Facebook it always fails and I have to manually copy the fundraising link into a post which is a faff…It always seems to post to Twitter okay – is this a known fault or just me :(?

    • Hi Claire, Thanks for getting in contact.
The options available to thank donors on Everyday Hero is to email them a personal message and also to publicly thank them directly on your Supporter Page, the option of an automated thank you message is not currently a product we support. – Heather

    • Hi Norman, thanks for getting in touch.

Can you please email help@everydayhero.com.au with your contact details so that we may look into your account and see whether your old page is still live and give further detail on how there may be an option to retrieve your old profile picture? Thank you!

    • Hello Annalisa,

Are you referring to mobile phone text donations? If so, I’m afraid that this product is something that Everyday Hero currently don’t have available.

Do let me know if this is not the case –

      Thanks

      Heather

Sorry that we couldn’t be in touch sooner!
We do hope your fundraising is going well – remember to share your page link via social as well as email. Raise awareness of the cause with each and every one of your friends and family – sometimes the most generous sponsors just need a little reminder.

    • Hi Matisse,

Congratulations on setting up your Supporter Page! A few little tips I would recommend are –

      1. You update your profile image on your page to be one of you – so that anyone visiting the page can see the person they are donating to 🙂
      2. You email your friends and family with your Supporter page link and ask them to donate to your cause, and also let them know how much you would like them to donate.
      3. Set the tone for your fundraising by donating to the page yourself! Nothing shows commitment then backing yourself 🙂

      Hope these help

      -Heather

    • HI Lisa,

If you are going to be selling laces, then you could do that offline then deposit the money to your page? Or add the amount as an offline total if you would prefer?
