This Thanksgiving, all of us at everydayhero are thankful for all of the amazing work each and every one of you has put in supporting your causes! Because of every mile run, bake sale cupcake sold and hour volunteered, you are changing the world for better. Thank you for making a difference.
To show all of the great ways everydayhero users are giving back, we wanted to share a few of the things they’re doing to impact their communities.
Little Things Add Up
When Sherry Lyons’ children grew up and moved out of the house, she took a look back at her life and had a realization—she was happy, healthy and in a place to share that with others. So, she started looking for ways to give back. Instead of fundraising for one charity, Sherry decided to focus on volunteering. So far, her work has included everything from picking up trash to harvesting food for the poor and walking to fundraise for breast cancer. By taking advantage of multiple opportunities to give back, Sherry is making a big difference in her community.
For the Girls
Luis Perez wanted his daughter to grow up feeling empowered and knowing that she had the ability to make the world a better place. So, when he chose to run the Rock ‘N Roll Marathon in San Jose, he wanted to fundraise for an organization that would not only help his daughter learn and grow, but would also help her friends. Now, he has raised over $600 for Girls for a Change, an organization that connects and educates young girls in his local community.
Swimming for a Cure
When Lexie Boor saw her cousin struggling with multiple sclerosis, she enlisted her swim team’s help to make a difference. The team took a regular swim practice session and turned it into a night of fun races and activities to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA). At the end of the night, the team was able to write a check of over $2,000 to the MSAA. By bringing friends and family together, Lexie was able to make an even bigger impact on her cause.
Thank you for doing great things for others! Happy Thanksgiving!
